Certifications are extra titles you can earn that make you more marketable. As a warehouse worker, you’d be surprised how many you have to choose from. When you’re certified in something, it shows employers you know more than the average worker, which makes you eligible for more (and possibly better) jobs.

Top warehouse certifications for candidates

Any of the following can make you more attractive to a potential employer:

  • OSHA Safety Certificate. When you complete this 40-hour program, you’re not only showing an employer that you understand key safety standards—you’re also helping yourself and others stay safe on the job. The OSHA Safety Certificate includes safety precautions related to your work environment, physical hazards that can put you in danger of injury, and how to keep everyone in your workplace out of harm’s way.
  • Amusement Operators Safety Certificate from Event Planners Association (EPA). It’s critical to understand how to avoid risk and injury when operating job-related tools and machinery. This certification helps you understand how to correctly operate machines you’ll come across in the warehouse setting to avoid injury and risk.
  • Computer Service Technician (CST) from ETA International. Pretty much every workplace uses computers these days, including warehouses. As a CST, you’ll be skilled in servicing computer hardware and systems. This includes: assembly and disassembly, processors, motherboards, secondary storage, peripheral devices, power supplies, file management and more.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. This program is nationally recognized to help you learn safe food handling processes. Once you’re certified, you’ll know very well how to prevent the spread of foodborne illness and keep food (and those who consume it) safe and healthy.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. This certification includes a wide range of safety measures, including healthcare, protection of the environment, ergonomics, protection against radiation and more. To learn it, you must have previous professional experience in specific safety procedures.
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional—Fire Safety Management (CHSP-FSM). Issued by the International Board for Certification of Safety Managers, this special certification helps you understand processes and procedures to ensure fire safety in your workplace. To learn the FSM designation, you must already hold a CHSP certification.
